コミュニティカレッジで習った英語小論分の書き方～　まとめ編

小論文の導入-本論-まとめのうち、「まとめ」について整理していきます。

まとめは、

読み手に自分の意見の価値、重要性を伝える最後のチャンス

と捉えて、以下の4点を避けること。

1. 機械的に終了すること
2. 新しいアイディア、議論を持ち出すこと
3. 自分の立場をひっくり返すこと
4. ありふれた表現を避けること

　　　例：In conculusion, In summary, As you can see, this essay proves

余韻を残すまとめのテクニックとその例

1. もう一度、自分の主張とそれを支える考えのリピート                                                            As much as I’d like to keep my new year resolutions this year, I’m afraid that like years in the past, I will break these,too.　My desire to lose weight… will probably be my new year’s resolutions for next year,too.　　　　　　　　　　　
2. 考えを広げて、一般化                                                                                                                              It is human nature to explore and investigate. Because the experiments being done today may someday lead to breakthrough cures for other deaseases. The possible benefits are too great to ignore.
3. 行動の呼びかけ                                                                                                                                           We can not allow the possiblity that innocent could be executed anymore. It is time to call your Sentors, write your newspapers and speak out as much as possible against the deathe penalty.
4. 警告                                                                                                                                                             It is important that we continue to remember and revisit the events of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. If we allow ourselves to forget the horrible human devastation of these two simple acts, nuclear could certainly be used again.
5. ことわざ、引用　　　　                                                                                                                  　Nobody said that going on a diet was easy. But for some of us who have begun, the expression, “Piece of Cake”has taken on new meaning.
6. 短い逸話やジョークを                                                                                                                               We need to be careful about how we view our children and always look at the gifts that they have to offer. After all, Albert Einstein didn’t speak until he was 8 years old and paretnts had given up on him.
7. イメージの描写                                                                                                                                           Young people struggled accross the border to reach the land of opportuity. Who knows how difficult it may have been and the risks their parents faced. Let’s reward these children with the prize their parents always hoped for them.
8. レトリックな質問                                                                                                                                       Of course, nobody wants to be the victim of another terrorist attack, and we need to keep contry safe, but how would you feel if you are targeted by the government just because of your ethnic background or religion?
9. 未来を予測するような表現                                                                                                                         People will continue to watch soap operas not only because they distract us from our daily life, but also because they present life as we want it to be: fast-paced, glamorous, and full of exciting caracters.

個人的には、

時間がなければ、1が無難。

2、3、４、８、９は、比較的簡単に取り入れられそう。

いずれにしろ、十八番のテクニックを持っていると、考える時間が減って小論文が早く書けるのでは？
